The Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum
The best self-emptying robot vacuum features an underlying container that can hold a month's worth of debris and then automatically empty. It also creates a precise map of your home and allows you to label rooms and create "no-go" zones.
It also is equipped with superior obstacle avoidance capabilities, so that it is safe from power cords and rogue sock.
iRobot Roomba s9+
This robot is a premium model from iRobot and performs well. It can move easily across a variety of surfaces, and is extremely effective in taking dust, dirt and other debris away. It is also very well-built and looks fantastic too.
The S9 is the latest iRobot premium S Series robot vacuum. It comes with a number of additional features that make it distinct from other models. For example, the iRobot app makes use of the camera of this model to create an interactive map of your home that helps it in cleaning and navigation.
There's no need to clean the same spots again in the event that the battery gets depleted. You can also set it up to start cleaning sessions and stop them with a simple voice command or using the iRobot app. The smart vacuum will even clean in the dark!
Another excellent feature is Carpet Boost, which gives the S9 extra suction power when it comes into contact with carpeting, so it can suck up more dirt and debris. The unit is an elongated front design, which allows it to get closer to walls and corners than older round designs. But, be aware that this model isn't able to work well with high-pile or shag carpeting.
In our tests, we found that the iRobot S9+ cleans thoroughly and efficiently on a variety of flooring surfaces, ranging from hard to medium-pile carpets and rugs. It also did well with tiles, vinyl flooring, and laminate flooring. It did a good job of maneuvering around furniture and objects, but it did have some issues with stairs, where it could crash into bookcases.
The S9's ability to return to its base and empty its dust bin when it's full was a great feature. It eliminated the need for manual maintenance. Its dust bag should last for around 30 loads, or around a month or two, and you'll have to replace the filter every once in a while (which is actually recommended by iRobot). We've found that the iRobot S9+ doesn't get very loud during operation, so it's a good option for those living with pets or children.
Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid
Robot vacuum cleaners are created to do the dirty work for you, and they can clean hardwood and carpeted flooring. Some robot vacuum cleaners can be controlled using apps on smartphones, and others have mopping technology for bathroom and kitchen flooring. They're an excellent choice for busy families, and they are becoming more affordable. But if you want top-tech features for your robotic vacuum cleaner, you'll need to pay a little more.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid vacuum and mopping machine is an excellent option for those who live in a multi-floored home. Its dual motors give it an impressive cleaning capacity, and the vacuum's 0.6l dustbin can store plenty of pet hair. The dust bin is easy to remove and emptied which is great as you'll have to do this on a regular basis.
It's easy to set it up too, although I recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid before running it for the first time. Install the Eufy Home application and follow the directions to connect it to your WiFi network. The app will help you create a map of your home. You can label the rooms, break large areas into sub-rooms to make it easier to open-plan living, and help direct the X8 Hybrid towards specific areas that require cleaning at a particular time. Many other robots have similar scanning and mapping functions, but Eufy's app is more refined and user-friendly than other models.
The X8 Hybrid has a great feature: you can control the mop or vacuum cleaner via voice thanks to its integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This is a nice feature that makes the robot even more hands-free. It also is working well in our test house.
As with many robotic vacuums the X8 Hybrid has some issues with bare floors. It may miss fur and small objects and tends to bump things, such as its charger on the charging platform. It's also not as quiet, and the whirring sound could be distracting as with other models.
Roborock V3S Pro
The robot doesn't have as many features as some of the more expensive models we evaluated however, it does have all the basics. It has a large enough dust bin to hold plenty of dirt before it's time to empty it and its vacuum and mop system is great for carpets with low pile and hard floors. It's also extremely quiet. We were able to watch television while it was cleaning without feeling like we were constantly bombarded by noise.
Our testers were very impressed by how easy the machine was to use and set up. They also appreciated its ability to eliminate all the messes from their floors. It did a good job picking up pet hair, messes and carpeting however it had a harder time eliminating stubborn stains. They found the app easy to use and intuitive, and they could schedule the vacuum to clean on a regular basis to reduce the amount they had to do manually. The one downside is that it doesn't include any mapping technology or object avoidance, so you aren't able to send it to specific rooms or follow virtual boundaries (though magnetic boundary strips work).
Another model from iRobot's low-cost line that is the V3S Pro has some impressive features for its price. It was the most efficient robot vacuum in our tests for navigating and avoiding obstacles. It's also a great budget choice for those seeking an intelligent, self-emptying robotic vacuum that can handle hair and pet messes on floors made of hardwood or carpets with low pile. It's also very quiet and has a large dust bin that holds a lot of debris before it needs emptying so you don't need to be concerned about having to empty it every time you use it.
The V3S Pro did not make it into our top choices lists from trusted sources who conduct hands-on tests, however it received high marks from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. The V3S Pro was easy to use and set up, but the battery life was not long.
Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is an entry-level robot vacuum cleaner that provides a wide range of features at a fair cost. You can avail many of the high-end features, like smart navigation and mapping without spending a fortune. You can also make use of voice commands through Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple Siri shortcuts to create custom automations and begin your cleaning cycle remotely while you're away.
Roborock has taken its time to design this innovative cleaner. It is extremely well-constructed and feels like high-end materials were used to create it. Its base is stable and robust, with an integrated charging port for the battery. On the top, you'll find a dock for the clean water tank as well as dirty water bins. You'll also find a wall beneath the dock, which houses the vacuum bag that is sealed.
When you connect your device with the app, you'll see the map in 3D or 2D of your home that shows the exact location where your robot is situated and the area it's cleaning. You can also create virtual barriers to keep the robot out of certain areas and ensure that it's only cleaning specific types of floors. It can also adjust its power settings based on the kind of floor that is being cleaned. Select the most efficient cleaning method.
Contrary to other robot vacuums that are available, the Q Revo is able to lift up both of its mop heads while vacuuming to ensure that your carpet doesn't get stained fibres. In fact, it's one of the few vacuums on the market that can do this.
When mopping, the Q Revo's 5500Pa suction power can be enough to take out dust particles and pet hair strands and other debris. The all-rubber brush is able to separate animal and human hair, as it adjusts to uneven surfaces.
Its only drawback is that it takes an extended time to fill and empty the water tanks, both clean and dirty. You can cut down on this frequency by using the auto-empty function that will empty the bin automatically after a few days. You'll still need to monitor the levels of robot vacuum that vacuums and mops water on the dock manually though, as there isn't an automatic reminder.
